Mr. Handled

How it works

How it works

Add your people once. We remind you before every date. If life gets in the way, AutoPilot writes a card from your notes, gives you a heads-up and mails a real card. You stay in charge the whole time.

Add your people and their dates

Import birthdays from your phone contacts or a calendar file, or type people in by hand. Add anniversaries, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and any other yearly date that matters. You do this once, and it keeps working every year.

Reminders are free. Want the dates on your phone too? Add the calendar feed and every birthday shows up next to your meetings. Start on the reminders page.

Give us a detail or two per person

The detail is what makes the card sound like you. It doesn’t need to be long. A couple of lines is plenty.

  • Dad

“Still mad about the fourth-quarter fumble. Grills every Sunday, rain or shine.”

  • Best friend

“Lost the fantasy league again. Just got a dog named Biscuit.”

  • Mom

“Garden, crosswords, calls every Sunday to ask if I’m eating vegetables.”

  • Wife

“Our first date was at the diner with the bad coffee. She still orders the pancakes.”

Pick a tone (warm, funny, short and sweet) and we sign it with your name. Nothing is shown to the person except the finished card.

Turn on AutoPilot, person by person

AutoPilot is opt-in for each person and date. Turn it on for Mom’s birthday and your anniversary, leave it off for everyone else. Nothing is ever on by default.

  • Before the date, we write the card from your notes, in your tone.
  • About ten days before mailing, we email you a heads-up with the card and the mail date.
  • The email has three buttons: “Looks good”, “Edit message” and “Skip this one”.
  • If you don’t skip it, we charge your saved card and mail it on the date in the email.

Dates in memory of someone always wait for your OK. They’re never charged or mailed on their own.

The heads-up

Nothing mails without a heads-up first.

About ten days before a card goes out, you get the message, the price and the mail date. Do nothing and it’s handled.

What they get in the mailbox

Mr. Handled dropping a card in the mailbox

A real card, written with a real pen in the handwriting style you pick, in a hand-addressed envelope with a real stamp. Postage is in the price. It’s mailed to arrive around the day, and every arrival time we show is an estimate.

It reads like you wrote it, because it came from what you know about them. No generic verse, no “thinking of you on your special day”. Just a note that mentions the dog, the diner or the fumble, signed with your name.

Want to add more? On a card you send yourself, you can put your own photo on the cover or add a gift card to a folded card.
